Calnexin is a type-I integral membrane protein of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). It is a calcium-binding chaperone protein that interacts transiently with newly synthesized N-linked glycoproteins, facilitating protein folding and assembly. It can be used to stain the nucleoli in cell or tissue preparations and can be used as a marker of the nucleoli in subcellular fractions. This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200 kDa, identified as different members of CEA family.
